Donegal Mountain Rescue – recruiting

Mountain Rescue volunteers provide an essential service to the outdoor community. In Orienteering in particular when we compete on high terrain we know there are there to call on in an emergency.

Donegal Mountain Rescue have asked us to to share their recruitment request below. Please have a look yourself or pass it on to anyone you know who might be interested.

Donegal Mountain Rescue are now recruiting for 2019-20 and are contacting Clubs and Organisations involved in the Great Outdoors whose members may have an interest.
This continues the rich and positive history of local Clubs progressing to Mountain Rescue Responders, Reservists or Associates to the benefit of local Communities and their Clubs. There is often advantages for Activity Clubs to have Mountain Rescue Responders among their membership.
DMRT would like therefore to invite NWOC members to apply for DMRT Team membership for 2019-20.
The general application criteria the Team has set out for 2019-20 is as follows,

• Males and Females with reasonable fitness and a love of the Outdoors.
• Navigation skills are an advantage.
• First Aid skills are an advantage.
• Have own transport in Donegal or within call out distance of Donegal and are easily contactable.
• Have the time.

Training is provided by DMRT in the disciplines of Mountain Navigation, Search Skills, Technical Ropes, and Mountain First Aid. As in all Charity Organisations all members are subject to Garda Vetting and participation in a on line Child protection course.

Garret Wilson Team Leader would be very happy to talk to anyone who is interested or has any questions. If they are any questions contact teamleader@donegalmrt.ie and Garret Wilson will be in contact. An open night will be held in the Autumn for those who have an interest to meet the Team and have any further questions. An application pack will be provided for applicants.
