Garvagh Forest

Description

A small mixed plantation with an extensive network of forest tracks. There are also some smaller paths, some mature and deciduous areas and a few small hills (one hill has a particularly unusual feature on top).

In 2018 the forest area was repurposed as a Mountain Biking Centre. The small areas of forest once suitable for running are now crisscrossed with mountain bike trails – many of them high speed. It is therefore no longer suitable for Orienteering.

It is still possible to walk around the forest roads (which are now referred to as ‘walking trails’)!

Parking

There is a small car park on the edge which is accessed from Garvagh main street. However, at weekends it is often full of mountain bikers vans and cars.
