Venues
This year’s NI Sprint and Middle Distance Championships will both be held within the Campus of Ulster University, Coleraine. Both events will use separate new maps and each will start in a different part of the campus.
Sprint Championships
Parking
Parking and Registration adjacent to Car Park 5 on the University Site Map PDF. Cars entering the campus have to pass through a ticket barrier. Please note that the ticket issued is required when exiting but there is no charge for parking.
Toilets
There are no toilets at Car Park 5. Competitors can drive to Car Park 8 and use the facilities in the Sports Pavilion. All other internal roads are out of bounds.
Registration
Registration will be a short walk from the car park adjacent to the start.
We will register runners for both events in the morning. Owing to limitations of the software we can’t use “dip to enter” to do this, but if competitors can quote their BOF number this will speed the process up considerably.
Starts / Finish
Sprint starts from 11:15-12:00. Sprint courses close at 12:30.
There is plenty of space between car parking area and registration to warm-up. The area north of start is OOB until your race has started
- Runners can enter start grid at -4 mins.
- Control descriptions on waterproof paper at -3 mins
- Blank maps at -2 mins
- It will be a punching start
- It will be a punching finish
Dogs
Competitors are not allowed to bring dogs on the campus.
Map
The event will use a newly updated 1:4,000 ISSOM 2007 map with 2.5m contours.
If you are unfamiliar with the different symbols used on Sprint-O maps, please pay special attention to the ones listed here. These show features you must not cross – even if it appears it might be possible to do so. Any competitor seen crossing any of these marked features will be disqualified.

Terrain
University campus with areas of open grass, car parking areas and university buildings. Road running shoes should be suitable unless it is wet, as there are some grass areas to cross.
There is the slight possibility of moving vehicles on the area – please take care when
crossing roads and car parks.
SI Air / Contactless Punching
All controls (with the exception of the start and finish) will operation in contactless mode. Competitors with ordinary SI Cards can punch in the normal way. However, any competitor who wishes to try contactless punching may borrow a SI Air Card from registration free of charge.

Registration
Registration / enquiries will be in the Sports Pavilion car park. Runners who registered for both events in the morning do not need to visit registration again.
Starts / Finish
Middle Distance starts from 14:30. Courses close at 16:30.

Terrain
University campus with areas of open grass, forested areas, playing fields/all weather pitches car parking areas and university buildings. Orienteering/Trail shoes recommended, also full leg cover.
Ulster University will have other sports happening, particularly on outdoor pitches, there are some orienteering legs that cross these pitches, if they are in use please navigate around them. Deliberate crossing of pitches in use will warrant disqualification.

NI Orienteering AGM
The NI Orienteering AGM will be held at 12:30 in the Sports Pavilion.
Junior Kitchen
The Junior Kitchen will be present at the Sports Pavilion / AGM and will be serving tea, coffee and buns. Please support this good cause.
