Xmas Event and AGM Report

Christmas time is the time of year when friends, young and old, gather together to  catch up on experiences over the past year. And so it was for the North West Orienteering Club’s present and past members to meet up for the annual Christmas orienteering competition on 27th December at Ballykelly Forest.

Anthony McGonigle being presented the Silva Trophy by Noel BogleThe club is celebrating 45 years since it’s first  steps in the sport of orienteering and it was especially poignant that three of the club’s pioneers, Anthony McGonigle, Fred Corscadden and Noel Bogle MBE were all participating in this annual event.

Place available on Controller’s Course

There will be a NI controllers course on the weekend of 13-14th January at the Tollymore  Mountain Centre. David May from the British Orienteering Federation will lead the course and provide expert tuition and his wealth of experience of developing high quality events at all levels of Orienteering.

An additional subsidised place is now available to the club for this course.

Attending would be extremely beneficial to any Club member who wishes to improve (or consolidate) their Orienteering Planning / Controlling skills. If you are interested (or would just like some more information), please email  Charlie@niorienteering.org.uk

Xmas 2017 Event Results

Thanks to David Blair for planning and organising an excellent event using both sides ofor Ballykelly forest. We had a good number of club members as well as visitors from LVO and Scotland and some club members from the past.

Afterwards members enjoyed a meal at the Drummond where we celebrated Noel Bogle’s 80th and we then held our AGM.
