DESCRIPTION:Venue Lower Drummans \n\n\n\nPlease see also the IOC 2025 final information page which adds substabntially to the information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the loss of Drum Manor and Garvagh Forests due to storm damage\, the Irish Relay Championships will now be held on the Lower Drummans on the western side of the Magilligan area. \n\n\n\nThe low lying mixed terrain of sand dunes and grazed farm land will be fast and furious promising intense\, head-to-head team racing.With a handicap system\, the Irish Relays make for a fun day as outside of the Premier and Junior classes\, runners from different clubs can form teams. Individuals wishing a relay run will be able to enter by selecting an option to be assigned to a team.  \n\n\n\nEvent Location\n\n\n\n\n\nMagilligan West \n\n\n\n26 Point RoadLimavady\, BT49 0LPUnited Kingdom \n\n\n\nMap\n\n\n\nThe map was fully updated in March 2025 by Graeme Francis (LVO).  Map scales are: \n\n\n\n\nScale 1:10000 with 2.5m contour interval for Open and Women’s Premier classes.\n\n\n\nScale 1:7500 with 2.5m contour interval for all Handicap and Junior Classes\n\n\n\n\nPrevious map from 2010\n\n\n\nParking\n\n\n\nParking will be on the field on the terrain – opposite the main entrance to Magilligan used for the Middle and Classic Championships.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThere is a 10 minute / 600 metres walk to Assembly Area.  \n\n\n\nCosts \n\n\n\nSenior TeamJunior Team£30£15\n\n\n\nRelay Entries\n\n\n\nRelay Entries and payments should be made by Team Captains on the IOC SI Entries page by Monday 21 April: \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in a relay run\, either as a club team member or making up an inter-club ad hoc team\, please check the appropriate box when making your individual event entries on SI Entries. \n\n\n\nRelay Team Declarations\n\n\n\nTeam Declaration forms will be emailed to Team Captains upon entry with further instructions for completion. \n\n\n\nTeam Captains are requested to submit their final team declarations by 1600 on Sunday 4 May. There will be a Relays Team Declaration tent in the Assembly Area of the Classic Championships. \n\n\n\nAd-hoc teams will be possible subject to map availability. Competitors wishing to form an ad-hoc team should contact the Organiser in advance and confirm at the Team Declarations as above by 1600 on Sunday 4 May. \n\n\n\nTeam Declaration forms will be emailed to Team Captains upon entry of one or more teams with further instructions for completion. \n\n\n\nClick here to download a pdf copy of the declaration form for your information. \n\n\n\nRelay Team Classes\n\n\n\nTeam Captains should refer to the IOC Relays Guidelines for details of the criteria to determine eligibility for the respective classes – especially the handicap points system.  Teams in all of the classes\, except Women’s Premier\, can be made up of both male and female competitors. \n\n\n\nTo be eligible\, teams in the Junior 48 and Junior 36 classes should have a combined age of up to 48 years and 36 years respectively using their ‘orienteering age’. \n\n\n\nSimilar to the Junior system\, the Handicap classes are based on the combined ages of the team members using their ‘orienteering age’. The clubs are LVO\, Cork O\, CNOC\, GEN\, BOC\, SET\, FIN\, FERMO\, 3 ROC\, SEVO\, Kerry O and NWOC. \n\n\n\nCompetitors not in the named clubs will place their maps in bags relating to their Bib number 1-99\, 100-199\, 200-299\, 300-399 & 400-499. To help ensure you get your map back\, markers will be available for you to write your Bib number on the back of your map. \n\n\n\nAfter final runners have started\, a club representative should pick up their club maps and distribute to fellow club members. \n\n\n\nNumbered Bags of maps will be brought to the Enquiries tent for collection by individual runners. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Last Lap Café \n\n\n\nThe Last Lap Café will be back at IOC providing tea/coffee/snacks and sandwiches from Friday to Monday at IOC and we are delighted to be working with them again.  \n\n\n\n\nIOC Relay Prizes:\n\n\n\nPrizes will be awarded for each class. \n\n\n\nIrish Championships Relay Rules\n\n\n\nSpecific guidelines for the IOC Relays including details of team compositions are in Guideline 4:https://www.orienteering.ie/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Guideline-4-Irish-Relay-Championship.pdf \n\n\n\nToilets\n\n\n\nThese will be located in the assembly area. \n\n\n\n\nDogs\n\n\n\nIn common with the other days\, dogs are not allowed in the area. \n\n\n\n\nSafety\n\n\n\nAll competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. First aid will be available at the assembly area. All competitors are advised to carry a whistle.There is a wide ditch across the length of the area – this is fenced off on both sides and is out of bounds. Competitors should only cross at the designated bridge crossings on the map.Parts of the competition area are grazed.
